Gospel Music’s Top Stars MARY MARY, PASTOR CAESAR and FRED HAMMOND descend on the “JEWEL OF THE ATLANTIC” To Rock The Heavens In The First Ever BERMUDA GOSPEL FESTIVAL ON AUGUST 25 – 27

DR. BOBBY JONES PRESENTS THE 2011 BERMUDA GOSPEL FESTIVAL debuted on August 25 – 27, drawing nearly 3,000 gospel fans to witness soulstirring performances from some of todayʼs top gospel stars. Hosted by gospel icon, Dr. Bobby Jones, the 3-day gospel festival also featured unforgettable performances by talented local Bermudian artists and the very special Divine Voices Vocal Competition. The first ever 2011 Bermuda Gospel Festival catered to gospel music lovers and visiting tourists alike, solidifying the “Jewel of the Atlantic” as the “goto” destination for the exclusive multi-day festival extravaganza.

Kicking off August 25 festival night was EMI Gospel artist, Vashawn Mitchell, who took the stage with BET Sunday Best singers YʼAnna Crawley and Jessica Reedy, all delivering an electrifying gospel performance. Backed by an amazing set that included gospel singer Clifton Powell, the first night definitely kicked off in heavenly style. Grammy award-winning gospel duo Mary Mary closed out the first night with an explosive 90-minute performance that had the audience screaming for more!

On Friday, August 26, gospel legend Pastor Shirley Caesar gave a rock-solid two-hour performance that brought festival goers to their feet! Kicking off her shoes to perform such gospel classics as “Jesus I Love Calling Your Name,” and “No Charge,” the legendary pastor both entertained and ministered to the Bermuda Gospel Festival audience. Also that night, American Idol Season 3 Finalist George Huff joined Dr. Bobby Jones to co-host the highly-anticipated Divine Voices Vocal Competition. After five finalists battled two rounds of fierce competition, Kassandra Caines was crowned the winner. Caines won an opportunity to perform with gospel pioneer, Pastor Shirley Caesar that same evening; a one-song recording and distribution deal; and a television appearance on the Word Networkʼs “Bobby Jones Gospel” show.

Concluding on Saturday, August 27, multi-award winner and Verity Gospel artist Fred Hammond hit the stage, forcing gospel fans out their seats and to the front of the stage on the last festival night. With the audience singing along to his many gospel hits, Hammond also treated the crowd with a preview of new material slated to be released in a couple of months. The gospel heavyweight closed out the three-day to thunderous applause, leaving festival goers in eager anticipation of what’s to come next year.
